The Zing Shot from Zing Toys Dazzles on Regis and Kelly!
19 Jul
With all of the action-packed diversions this past July 4th provided, from crackling fireworks to bountiful BBQs, I understand why you may not have been sitting in front of the TV. But that’s really too bad, because while you were out twirling your sparklers and savoring sweet apple pie, you missed Zing Toys taking over the Regis and Kelly show with their awesome Zing Shot! This is a treat:
Regis playing with a slingshot – as American as you can get. Even in this short clip you can see how much fun they have with things taking off as soon as Regis decides it’s time to take up the Zing Shot and go after Gelman. Poor Gelman. But as they point out, it’s all soft, safe foam, so no need to worry about hurting anyone. You can hear how much the audience enjoyed it – and they were just watching!
The “Toy Guy” Chris Byrne, who was the featured guest for this segment, also makes a great point, albeit quick (and I’m expanding on his statement here), regarding the fact that the old-fashioned, classic slingshot we all grew up with and loved, the one that has a connected band/pouch running between the two posts, can no longer be legally sold. So what Zing has done is invent a unique system where there is no connected band, rather the ball has two openings on the sides that allow for it to be clipped on to the truncated bands, and then when pulled back and released, it flings forward and zooms away, offering the same classic sling shot experience. And kids are happy. It’s a classic toy and we should all be thrilled they’ve found a way to continue to provide that experience for kids.

You can visit the great Time to Play website, for more from Chris and his colleagues, including many great toy reviews, or follow him on Twitter.
